I guess that's where this critter & my recent urge for non-dominant drawing came from! I had rather a long & stressful day today, & found it strangely comforting to draw something quick, messy & pointless tonight. :-) It still intrigues me that my left hand has so little control-- everything is wobbly, lines veer off in completely unexpected directions, & it's also much harder to regulate pressure. Come to think of it, that pretty much describes my day!!
Pencil on paper, non-dominant handed, ~2.5"x3.5"
What I want to see is what your dominant foot can do!
ReplyDelete(P.S. I pick up things from the floor with my dominant foot :) a trait my daughter inherited when she was just a toddler! Hahah!)
I would be glad to draw like this with my dominant hand! Amazing picture, love it. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take long to get pretty good at drawing with your other hand, or your foot for that matter. Because all the skills mostly come from your brain, and the fact that artists train themselves to see more clearly with their eyes. I was never much impressed with those calendars showcasing art by artists who draw with their feet. Most artists could learn to do that if they had to.
ReplyDeleteBut what I do like about drawing with my other hand (my right one) is that it's as close as I can come to recapturing my childhood innocence.
Hey Leah, have you ever heard of a Russian artist named Tanya Miller? I found a painting of hers that you just have to see. email me from my blog, since you dont seem to have a contac link.
ReplyDeleteThis critter has relatives here at my place.
ReplyDeleteAnother winner! *I REALLY need to start practicing!!*
