Jumpy

I admit it-- I'm a nervous type. At the best of times I startle ridiculously easily. And it has been a stressful couple of weeks lately, so yes, I've been more than a little jumpy.

Much like this poor fellow. He's also in the painting, or perhaps it's his less-anxious twin, because he looks a lot happier there.

  1. Yep, he must be nervous--no finger nails. I know from experience :(

  2. I love her or him. He is going to be my mascot. Me too. I am the nervous type. Not only jumpy and nervous, very excitable EXCEPT when I was in the emergency room as a trauma nurse. I was quick but calm almost surreal. I am very calm when I am resuscitating somebody like my neighbor when I resuscitated her and I also did a heimlich on my own baby who was turning blue after ingesting a hard candy given by her big brother. It was only later when I realized what had happened and then I cried. Sigh. Now I am just stressed out all the time. I need this guy. I showed your art to my brother-in-aw who used to be a medical technologist and sometimes worked in the micro section. He enjoyed the "gross" post.

  3. Poor little guy. If only one of his eyes were significantly bigger than the other...

  4. Your creature might be much braver than we think. Perhaps having such big eyes and ears, this little guy sees and hears more than we ever care to realize. Great illustration!

  5. I will assume it's the same fellow, but that he feels more at home in the painting. Possibly the paintbrush and layers of glazes calm him down? Love his glow.

  7. Leah, it's always a pleasure to see some some fresh creativity and it's a bonus to have it rendered so well. Love your blog stuff as well...

  9. Poor fuzzy bunny nervous guy! Such a cute little snout. I totally startle easily, so I know just what you mean. I'll be just drawing or reading something, and someone will walk up without any intention of sneaking whatsoever and I will jump, and yell, and they will jump, and then laugh. :)

  12. This little guy will probably resonate with a lot of people because of how perfectly he portrays his emotion! I'm pretty sure I look and feel like this at least once a day. :) Beautiful work.
